Birds are one of the most diverse animal class and evidentially one of the most adorable. From poptastic Dracula parrots to extravagant Golden Pheasant–these creatures never cease to amaze with their stunning appearances. And if you’re not a fan of bird watching yet, there’s a species of birds that might encourage you to pick up a new hobby. They are called Bearded Reedling and has a look that could never be confused with any other species.
Bearded Reedling is a small-sized bird with a long tail. They are approximately 16.5cm in size and could easily fit into your palm.
Their unique appearance makes them easily recognizable in nature. Just look for a tiny, egg-shaped, fluffy bird, that enjoys resting by doing a split on three branches.
Males can be easily spotted for their gingerish-brown overall with bluish-grey heads.
They also feature black mustache-like markings that go from under their eyes down to their throats with similar black streaks beneath their tails.
While still very similar to males, females are a little bit different.
They are much paler and don’t have any mustache markings nor black streaks under their tales. They also have darker beaks than males.
This species has an extreme range which is decreasing but not at alarming rates.
Bearded Reedlings are not known for migration, and could be found residing across Europe and Asia all year long.
