Incredibly Rare Agate Rock Looks Exactly Like Cookie Monster from Sesame Street

The extremely rare agate rock was recently found in the Soledade region in Brazil. The fact that it resembles Cookie Monster just further adds to its rarity.

Mike Bowers from California who specialises in such rocks – and appears to own this one – said the object was recovered in November 2020 and could be worth as much as $10,000 due to its rarity.

The reason for the stone’s rarity is not only that its two halves combine into a perfect egg shape. Beyond that, when split in half, the light blue quartz crystals bear an uncanny resemblance to the Cookie Monster.

Bowers said: ‘I think this is probably the most perfect Cookie Monster out there. I have seen others but here you have it complete (both sides) Lucas Fassari is actually the one who found it.

‘This is very unusual! There are a few famous agates out there: the owl, the scared face… there are many approximate ones but rare to find clear well defined like that.

‘Prices can be very high. I was proposed over $10,000 by 5 different buyers. Rare.’

According to Wikipedia, agate is a formation with chalcedony and quartz as its primary components. Primarily formed within volcanic and metamorphic rocks, agates consist of a wide variety of colors.

The ornamental use of agate dates back to Ancient Greece in assorted jewelry and in the seal stones of Greek warriors. Could it be that they were already aware of the mythic power of Cookie Monster?
